Born and raised in Peterborough and residing here most of my life. Sheila has always had an interest in art. As a young person she tried to express herself with pencil and paper. Getting married and having 2 beautiful children and one stepson, put her art on the back burner. Interests, again returned with a passion, when her family grew up. At this point she took some classes in folk art. It seemed to satisfy her urges to create and let her feelings escape, but only for a short time. When the need to do more became so powerful, she took lessons from other artists. Julie Howlett, Linda Palmer, and others. Sheila took classes in Keene, at the tea room with different artists as well. Oils became her chosen medium, loving the way it blended and flowed from each brush stroke. Recently Sheila donated two pieces of work to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. She was very proud to have sold both pieces at the silent auction, held at Showplace in Peterborough. Now she is turning another corner by joining Kawartha Artist Gallery & Studio, where she can be around those who have the same passion for art.
