Garnet Loney Garnet was born in South River Ontario and was educated in the area, being employed in the timber business around and within Algonquin Park. When the Korean war began, Garnet, being from a military family, joined the RCAF. After thirty years of hard knocks in the Weapons and Parachute Rescue field, he decided, that was enough. Back to nature again, he was employed by the Mikisew Provincial Park as a Park Warden. His hobbies included the outdoors and for many years, oil painting. A self- taught artist, with the aide of a few studies in the Maritimes, Florida and Northern Ontario. Garnet has his crafts and paintings throughout the world. In his senior years he learned to play the fiddle and that along with his painting, keeps him active. With his wife Joyce he moved to Peterborough in 2001. They have travelled to the west to see their two daughters and four grandchildren in Edmonton and on Vancouver Island. For twenty seven years they travelled either by air, rail or car and enjoyed this most beautiful country, Canada, in all it's seasons.
