Carol Rutherford
A trained commercial artist, Carol worked in Toronto for various advertising agencies for fourteen years. In 2006, Carol moved to Peterborough and became a member of the Kawartha Artist Gallery & Studio (KAGS). She has participated in numerous juried exhibitions in the area including the Arts and Rental program at the Art Gallery of Peterborough. She received several awards for her paintings in 2009: 1st ; 2nd prize at the Norwood Fall Fair, Norwood, Ontario and 2nd prize in the art competition at the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, Buckhorn, Ontario. Havana's Own: A series of Cuban figurative works for the month of February 2010, will be on display at The Blue Tomato Art Shop on Hunter Street, Peterborough, Ontario. Artist Statement Initially inspired by the wild horses of Sable Island, I have produced a number of large paintings capturing the fluidity and grace of horses. I use bold colour and an expressive way of painting to capture the power and beauty of these stunning animals. Title: The Spirit of Equus
