Born and raised in Toronto,
Carol has been painting for the last 25 years. She is a trained commercial
artist who worked for advertising agencies over a 14 year period. Carol left
that career as computers took over the industry. She then retrained and now
works full time as a nurse.
Carols passion for art remains
strong. Since 1985, Carol has held a number of private shows which have been
sold out shows. She has recently joined the Kawartha Artists Gallery and
Studio after moving in 2006 to live permanently in Peterborough. She continues
to paint daily.
Artists’ Statement
Carol has always had an
affinity for the Canadian landscape. Childhood trips to Georgian Bay instilled
in her a love for the Canadian north, working mainly in acrylic, Carol enjoys
painting scenes from Georgian Bay, Kilarny and Lake Superior to name a few
favourite locations. Her painting reflects the serenity of the Canadian north
expressed in simple lines and shapes as well as in bold colours, thus
capturing the strength of her response to the landscape. That same style is
applied to other subjects captured in trips to tropical climates and locations
that appear in her works from time to time. No matter where she is Carol finds
inspiration in the landscape.
