Carol Francisco Carol joined the Kawartha Artist Gallery and Studio in January of 2009 in order to nurture her long time love of drawing and painting. She is working primarily in pastel and watercolour and has enjoyed attending the Tuesday morning life drawing sessions and Wednesday afternoon portrait sessions. Carol is also a freelance graphic designer and illustrator presently working in Peterborough, Ontario out of her home studio, Francisco Creative Images. http://www.creativeimages.ca Education: Batchelor of Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art of Temple University, Philadelphia Pennsylvania Pennsylvania State Teachers Certificate As a young aspiring artist Carol was fortunate to attend an art school where she had an opportunity to explore many mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, design, weaving, ceramics and metalwork. More recently, I have attended workshops with pastel artist Margeret Ferraro from Ottawa area and figurative painter Brian Smith from Toronto. Career Path: After graduating from Tyler School of Art, her journey continued to be varied, as Carol pursued many different career streams. She has taught weaving and ceramics in Toronto in adult education programs. She has explored spinning and weaving, producing items for sale in Ontario craft galleries. Carol had a sign shop in Hastings Ontario for several years, where she produced many hand-illustrated signs for local businesses. She was also a member of “Touch and Go” studios in Peterborough, designing silk-screened posters and t-shirts, as well as doing illustrations and graphic design. Carol has worked as a graphic designer for Maxwell Printing, RDS Maxwell, Scanlon Lowrey and Pitt and The Quarto Group, all in Peterborough. Carol has been a freelance graphic designer, illustrator and creative director of Francisco Creative Images since 1994. Exhibitions: March 29 to April 16, 2009 – “Figuratively Speaking” - KAGS May 24 to June 12, 2009 – “Celebration of Spring” - KAGS July 10, 11 and 12, 2009 – Bobcaygeon Art Festival - juried exhibition Volunteer Work: Carol is a member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada and a volunteer instructor for the Peterborough Branch for 20 plus years. She presently is a member of the regional management and instruction teams for the Central Region of the Society. The region includes 7000 members throughout Ontario and Manitoba. She considers it a gift and a privilege to offer this community service and share this art with others to help cultivate physical, mental and spiritual health.
